Five on Friday

It's Friday - Hallelujah! I won't go into my stressful week hoopla yet again; that doesn't mean it isn't true but I'm sure no one, not even myself, wants to hear it this Friday...right? I will say that so close to Thanksgiving, at this point in the game I'm currently thankful for the impending weekend, the joy of sleeping in (even though it's bad for your health) and knowing I only have one work day next week. Oh happy (Fri)day!

One. The Fifteen Sexiest Names....Did your name make the list? I have to say, I stumbled on to this article on Yahoo earlier in the week and it completely cracked me up! Why, you ask? Well, not only is my name number seven (I think) on the list, but my little sister's name is number thirteen - so my parents are two for two with sexy names for their children...which I'm sure is exactly what they were going for when they picked out names for their tiny new babies, right? Ha! It's good for a laugh, if nothing else.

Two. Bryce Harper is the National League MVP - and he's not just the winner of this award, he won it unanimously, was the youngest MVP to ever win the award unanimously and is the first MVP in the Nationals history. So yep - that's a pretty big deal and as a Nationals fan and all around unabashed Harper lover, I'm pretty thrilled about all this. Congrats Mr. Harper - can't wait to see what 2016 has in store for you and the Nationals!

Also - in other new - Bryce Harper has no clue what a meme is. He also doesn't want to become a meme. But yea...when you mispronounce the word meme, you've just gone ahead and assured you'll be a meme. Stick to baseball, ha!

Three. Apparently studies show that sleeping late on the weekends isn't a good thing - and I just have call foul on that. I was listening to KLove on the way to work this morning and they read off some information about how altering your sleep schedule can cause diabetes and heart disease!!! Let me tell you, that is crushing information because I love to sleep late on the weekends. Even if at this point my idea of "late" means I usually don't make it past 7:30. *sigh* Please tell me this news is just as upsetting to all of you out there...because I have BIG plans to sleep in on Saturday!

Four. Fitness on Friday; I know this is your favorite number five! I've finally embraced the elliptical; I needed to catch up with a show on Monday night and so I made a deal with myself that I'd stay on the elliptical for the duration of the show - and while there were moments when I thought my legs would fall off...but I definitely did it! I've started alternating between the elliptical one day and Jillian Michael's Thirty Day Shred and I'm pleased to report that while the first week absolutely made me feel like I was dying, this week I don't feel that way so much anymore. Progress, right?

I feel a sense of trepidation as the holiday season and holiday eating approach - I know I can conquer the need to shovel my face with all the glorious holiday goodies...and I also know that weight loss and fitness is a process. I think I'm going to need to be reminded not to get so down on myself when I have a misstep or perhaps eat one more cookie than I need to. Oh well - tis the season, I suppose.

Five. A reminder this Friday, for when you seem our of sorts, a mess and altogether just not sure about anything. It's okay. We're all a mess - and that's why it's such a wonderful thing that there is grace. Keep this reminder close during these next few hectic weeks and happy weekend-ing to you all!

Also...because I just couldn't resist. Hehehehe.....
