Wet Weather, Walking and A Weenie Roast

Hallelujah for long weekends - even if they seem to pass too quickly and then leave me wondering what day it is at work! I made my way right past the Mason Dixon line on Friday evening and into Yankee territory in Pennsylvania - driving in rain the entire time. Boo. I arrived shortly before 7:00 and was reunited with my lovely boyfriend again - definitely NOT a boo. We ate some supper, chilled out and watched a movie - the perfect way to spend a Friday evening.

It rained literally all weekend guys. All weekend. Monday doesn't count because it's not technically a day in the weekend... even though this was a long weekend. Saturday morning after coffee and a pretty crazy wait time for breakfast at Burger King (it was crazy y'all) - we headed to the Turkey Hill Experience to learn a little bit about how the delicious iced tea and ice cream are made!

There were free samples of iced tea and lemonade (Ryan would have drank the whole dispenser.. he loves that Turkey Hill Iced Tea) and you also got a free scoop of ice cream! It was pretty neat to check out and definitely something enjoyable to do on a rainy Saturday morning. Granted - every other person in PA seemed to have the same idea because the place was packed! The only quiet space was the room that simulated the deep freezers... ha-ha!

We passed the rest of the day with lunch at Chick Fil A (the lines are crazy long no matter where you go), looking at houses and popping into a store called Dutch... I can't remember guys. I just remember it had a big light up windmill and that was all it took to lure me in - it doesn't take much. We went to the movies to see A Quiet Place Part II and then had dinner at a Hibachi & Sushi Buffet - it was so tasty and the perfect way to close out a rainy Saturday.

Sunday morning was another rainy day and Ryan didn't feel so hot when he woke up - so we just chilled on Sunday morning until he got to feeling a little bit better. We went to the nearby mall and wandered around for a bit, grabbed some lunch and then made our way to Long's Park to take advantage of a break in the drizzle and be outside for a little while.

Once the drizzle returned, we headed back to the house and actually ended up taking a Sunday afternoon nap because... what else are you supposed to do when it's pouring rain? We joined our friend Joyce for dinner at a local spot called Gus's and then made our way to an overlook called Chiques Overlook - which was near the hiking spot we explored last time called Chickie's Rock. The views were lovely and the rain was finally starting to move out of the area... hallelujah!

Monday morning the sun was out, the sky was blue and the clouds were white and fluffy - thank goodness for a day of sunshine! We grabbed breakfast and headed outside to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and walk along the Northwest River Trail - a spot we've come to enjoy! We ate our breakfast sitting on a bench overlooking the river and then set out to walk in the opposite direction we'd gone on our previous visit.

We wandered along the trail and did some off-roading here and there to see a train bridge and also to follow a trail leading off the path - which led to the edge of the river, where I pulled my shoes off and waded into the river! There were thousands of tadpoles everywhere and teeny minnows swirling through the shallow water... and then there was me, gently moving through the water and enjoying the coolness.

We headed back to the house shortly after lunch and wandered around the town center of Mount Joy to take in the Memorial Day Craft Festival, sandwiches in hand as we explored the vendors. We spent the last little while just relaxing and talking... and then it was time to head back home. *sigh* When I arrived home, the fire pit was set up and it was time to roast weenies and marshmallows in the crisp evening air! It was the perfect way to close out the long weekend.

I feel like Memorial Day is sort of the unofficial start to Summer - so I guess it's time to break out shorts and tanks, watch some more baseball, find a pool to hop into and work on my tan! I cannot believe it's already June!
