Adios August - Hello September

Just like that - it's September 2nd and the "Ber" months have arrived! I cannot believe how quickly the first eight months of this year have flown by, and I know the last four will fly by as well. Labor Day Weekend was a good weekend and it kicked off with some time spent at the Shenandoah County Fair on Friday night - where my husband and I both got in on the rides, albeit very different rides, ha-ha!

Ryan and my Mom are both daredevils, so they immediately hopped on the hang glider ride and whipped around, and up and down through the skies. Granted, the ride my Mom and I rode also whipped around, up and down - but it was land based, no flying involved! After riding those couple rides and getting some fair food for dinner, we headed to the concert venue to listen to Tauren Wells in concert - so excellent!

The venue was gorgeous - but then again - there isn't much about Shenandoah County that isn't gorgeous! The sunset, combined with the beautiful worship music courtesy of Tauren Wells, and dancing around with Ryan and some of his coworkers.. mostly his coworkers, because he didn't dance much - it was a great concert. Ryan and I didn't stay for the entire 2+ hours of the concert, mostly because we had almost an hour drive home and we were both pretty tired. It was an awesome start to the weekend though - and we had such a great time!

Saturday morning it was so amazing to sleep in - and the weather this weekend was perfection; highs in the mid-70's and lows in the upper 40's - so shortly before 10 AM, we headed to Charles Town for their car show. Charles Town is quickly becoming a favorite of ours; they are such a great small town, and truly know how to bring in people to their lovely little main avenue - which was lined with what must have been over 200 cars on Saturday! Ryan was in heaven!

We popped into Miss Willa's Bookshop and miraculously, I didn't make any purchases, ha-ha! We did make some purchases from local vendors as part of the car show: Ryan got some Hot Wheels, I grabbed some stickers (we are like children...) and we also purchased jelly and marinade made from Kudzu! Kudzu I tell you! The vine that ate the South! Who knew it could be used to make such divine sauces and spreads?!? Not this girl.

We watched some college football on Saturday afternoon - of course - and I was torn on whether to cheer for my Alma Mater, Southern Miss or my lifelong college of choice, Mississippi State University. When all was said and done, MSU won the game - so Hail State, I suppose! I'd also planned to spend some time at the Lake Frederick swimming pool, but with the Autumn-like temperatures, the water was frigid and so I just sat poolside and read my book, which was still really lovely!

Sunday afternoon my parents came out to our house and we were able to get our TV mounted on the wall, so we could also mount our mantle on the wall! I have wanted a mantle for such a long time and my Dad found one online, finished it up with his friend Randy, and on Sunday we got it all in place on the living room wall! Not only does it add so much to the living room (in my humble opinion) but it also opens up the living room some as well! I'm in love with it, even if I still have some adjustments to make here and there...

Labor Day was a wonderful day - I slept until 8 AM - it was so wonderful! Ryan and I did some work around the house, chilled some and had a late lunch with friends while planning some co-ed hikes for our church group. The rest of the afternoon was filled with more chill time, fixing some delicious dinner and then sharing my bubble bath with Bagheera, because this little cat absolutely loves all things water!

So - here we are - just four months left in 2025. Here's hoping they are blessed and beautiful.
