Bury in Bloom

Greetings! I suspended Five on Friday this week to keep sharing snapshots from my time in the U.K.

Happy Friday evening all - I can't believe today is my second to last day here in the U.K. It sometimes seems like I've been here for days and days... and at other times it seems like I've only been here a short while. I'll confess there isn't much to this post beyond some snaps of all the gorgeous flowers that are still in bloom all over the town of Bury St. Edmunds.

Although - the first picture is the legend of St. Edmund and the wolf - which I shared about in an earlier post! I somehow walked right past this little legend book on a previous visit but I was glad to see it and get to snap a picture of it, ha-ha!

The rose garden in the Abbey is still very much in bloom - and I wondered about that because I just assumed that there would end up being quite a bit of snow once Winter arrived - but I investigated that and there are only on average 15 days with snow on the ground each year in the U.K. I guess perhaps the flowers being in bloom aren't much of a phenomenon.

Oh yes - I also included two snapshots from the Abbey Aviary of sweet little birds hopping and flitting around. I managed to get my camera as close as possible to the bars and snap their pictures! I was also just passing the time while I waited for a cup of coffee to be made from a little coffee truck parked in front of the aviary - it was so fun and the coffee was delicious and just what I needed while perusing the gardens in the cooler weather.

There is a rose in the Abbey gardens that was planted by Prince Charles and Camilla - it's not currently in bloom and is one of the few roses that isn't blooming - isn't that peculiar? *insert laughter here* My feelings toward that little rose may or may not have been influenced by the recent watching of The Crown.

That's all I've got for today - just a bunch of snapshots of flowers and birds. I hope you enjoyed the little peek of all the blooms all around Bury!
