Our WV Home - Scripture Verses

Our West Virginia home is coming right along - and we knew once we saw that a roof had been put over the top (not the completed roof, obviously) and before the sheetrock went up, we wanted to do something special for the foundation of our home.

Ryan and I are - first and foremost - children of God. Our relationship with Christ is the most important in each of our lives and we entered into our marriage knowing that God would always be our #1 one - and we would be each other's #2. We started our marriage with Christ as the foundation and so we thought about it and decided we wanted the Word to be written on the literal foundations of our home.

So after church last Sunday - armed with Sharpies and our Bible app (and some insight from our pastors) we headed to our house and got to work on the foundation! We had a gorgeous day outside and were able to dream and pray over this house that we will call home in late Summer/early Autumn.

We didn't have access to the second floor yet - and since we have a weekend away this weekend - it will be two weeks before we see our house again, so we aren't sure how much progress will have been made by the second week of June. If we are able to write additional scriptures on the walls of the second floor, we will definitely add more verses - but if not, we feel like we have surrounded our home with the Word of God.

We are so blessed to be able to build this home and look forward to the life we will build together there - and it just seemed fitting to make sure our home's foundation started with the Words that govern our day to day life. I'm so glad we were able to take the time to do this and it's also nice to know that the people building our house are seeing the Words of the Lord around them as they work.

The verses we chose (and had shared with us) are the verses listed below.

"You will be blessed when you come in & blessed with you go out." - Deuteronomy 28:6

"But as for me & my house, we will serve the Lord." - Joshua 24:15

"I will lie down in peace & sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." - Psalm 4:8

"But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." - Matthew 6:33

"The Lord bless you & keep you, the Lord make his face shine upon you & be gracious to you. The Lord lift his countenance upon you & give you peace." - Numbers 6:24

"Now therefore let it please you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue before you forever; for you, oh Lord have spoken it & with your blessing let the house of your servant be blessed forever." - 2 Samuel 7:29

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you & not to harm you, plans to give you a hope & a future." - Jeremiah 29:11

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart & with all your mind & with all your strength. These commandments I give to you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home & when you walk along the road, when you lie down & get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands & bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your house & gate." - Deuteronomy 6: 5-9

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you." - John 14:27

"Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle." Psalm 144:1

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of Heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be enough room to store it." - Malachi 3:10
