I cannot believe that Easter weekend - which was late this year - has sped right on by! My Easter weekend was a four day weekend (yahoo for that time off) and so when I headed out of the office on Friday, I was looking forward to that extra long weekend ahead! I scooped up my gorgeous flowers, courtesy of my supervisors at work and headed to my parents for burgers, before we popped into Lowe's for new flowers for the front of the house!
I would love to say I slept late on Saturday but I was actually up by about 7:15! After some snuggles with Spook, Ryan and I headed out to grab Easter groceries and run some quick errands before heading back home to clean the house up and prepare for our Easter guests! Ryan's mom and her BF came in for a couple days to celebrate Easter with us and we were thrilled to get to spend some time with them!
Before our family arrived, we headed to our church to volunteer as greeters; our church had five services this year, two on Saturday and three on Sunday. Ryan and stood at the doors and welcomed people into church and I cannot believe how warm it ended up being - Spring has arrived in full force and we had an 80+ day on Saturday! Thankfully it was also a gorgeous day and we saw so many people show up for the two services!
Our family arrived around 6:30 and we had a pretty laid back evening! I made some tomato soup and Ryan whipped up some grilled cheeses on our griddle. We all chatted and caught up while my MIL made a strawberry shortcake for our Easter brunch the next day. We were in bed a lot later than Ryan and I are usually in bed; we are pretty early to bed and early to rise, but it was after 11 before I fell asleep on Saturday evening!
Our church service was so wonderful - such a powerful and beautiful message with amazing worship before the sermon! It was so wonderful to get to share our Easter with our parents and of course, with one another. We are truly blessed and our time at church was the perfect start to a lovely day!
We did an Easter brunch meal with ham, bacon wrapped asparagus, fruit salad, hash brown cups, miniature chicken & waffles and rolls. I feel like I am leaving something out, but I can't remember what. ha-ha! It was all delicious and for dessert we had the aforementioned strawberry short cake and a lemon cheesecake! I was so stuffed when all was said and done - and then it was out into the backyard to enjoy the perfect weather!
Ryan has an airsoft gun that we like to shoot with some targets from time to time - and we were absolutely cracking up watching my Mom and Ryan's mom shooting the gun. They were hilarious! We all sat around outside chatting and just enjoying the gorgeous weather - truly, truly such a wonderful day and wonderful time spent with family!
Later in the evening after spending time visiting and then when everyone had kind of separated out to do their own thing for a little bit - reading, chilling, listening to a book - we had leftover for dinner in the form of some really divine ham and cheese sandwiches and then... oh then, we took Peeps out to our fire pit and roasted them, ha-ha! It turns out they aren't really that good roasted, but hey - at least I know that now!
I'll leave you with a gorgeous view of our new shrub roses outside our front door! They're divine!
It was a lovely Easter!
