June - Lately

Why yes - it's a post that consists largely of cat photos and rambling; but isn't that the best kind of post? I truly cannot believe it's already June; my mind is boggled that we are creeping ever closer to the middle of this year (although apparently the middle is day 182/183 and we are only on day 162). I know a recurring theme on this podcast is the passage of time - but man it just flies by!

Our backyard is in the process of undergoing a radical transformation as we build a paver patio - so as you can see, we've gone from grass to a big mud pit! We were set up to work on it all of Saturday (the 7th) but the rain that was not in the forecast showed up shortly after 4 PM and decided to hang around and turn our newly created 10x12 dirt pad into a mud pit... so now we hope after three days of sunshine, we can get it worked on again today after work!

Please enjoy these pictures of our little chaos goblin - seen on the right as a calm, purring little fuzz bucket, but the left is his true self: a blur of action, fuzzy mitts at the ready to snatch anything that might seem appealing, eyes wild and unfocused. Another thing our little chaos goblin loves is to watch me working on my new hobby - cross stitching - because he loves to try and grab the strings of thread! Not exactly helpful... but somehow I've managed to complete my first two projects without much trouble!

I have absolutely been loving being able to relax in our hammock and swing in the summer sunshine, especially if I have a good book to read! I think this hammock has been one of my favorite Christmas gifts so far - it's just the most perfect spot for relaxing - and we all need that special place to relax!

The kittens have lost their outdoor privileges recently; mostly Spook, because they are a little too invested in being wilderness explorers and when it's time to come in, they would rather race away in the opposite direction - toward more adventures... and ticks, and snakes, and heavens only knows what else! They take turns trying to get the back door open - Spook is usually better at sliding the screen door open and if we don't latch it, he will be out the door in a minute! Maverick is fairly unphased - he prefers the comforts of indoor life!

Recently, the two of them spent about a week and a half enjoying some boxes we have in the house - diving in and out, hiding and popping out, even just settling in them and falling asleep! They are such silly little guys and they keep us cracking up!

Life has been fairly calm for the last few weeks. Just playing with kittens, working on the backyard, stitching up a storm and enjoying the warm weather!
