I finally convinced him to make the treats on Tuesday afternoon and I oh so kindly documented his kitchen greatness for posterity and for this blog treat! So, here is the recipe for Portable S'mores!
Three of the four ingredients you'll need - all s'mores must have marshmallows, graham crackers & chocolate! |
Butter, butter, butter...yum! |
A squishy, mushy & marshy moment! |
Does that look like marshmallow sauce to you? |
- 1 10 ounce bag of marshmallows
- 8 cups Golden Grahams cereal
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
- 4 tbsp. butter
That's it - there are really just four ingredients. So easy!
To Make
This is an action shot - all that stirring business! |
- Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan on medium/low heat until melted.
- Add marshmallows and stir with butter, melting slowly. It should begin to form a marshmallow sauce!
- Pour marshmallow sauce onto Golden Grahams and then prepare to stir and mix, stir and mix! This sauce starts to want to harden pretty quickly, so be prepared to dig in!
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips into the mixture as you stir in the marshmallow sauce; this is where two people make this easier...as one wrestles...er...I mean stirs the marshmallow and graham mixture, the other can slowly add chocolate chips!
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9x11 pan, pressing into all four corners. Allow the mix to harden and then cut into bars. Enjoy with a tall glass of milk!
The only thoughts I have after making this for the first time (or helping my Dad make it, ha-ha) are that you may want to squish some of your Golden Grahams a bit before you pour in the marshmallow sauce; it might make stirring and mixing it together just a wee bit easier. You also want to have napkins on hand for these because they are delicious but man, they create some serious crumbs!
Just relaxing in the pan...chilling out... |
Finished product - S'mores that are ready to grab & go! |
There you have it - something easy and delicious! It's basically s'mores but just a wee bit easier. Sort of!
