True story - that was the shortest three day weekend ever! I feel like time is flying and I think I feel that way because time is passing me by and I am just doing a whole lot of nothing! I suppose I'm not literally doing nothing but the things I am doing feel very unimportant...
Friday felt like it just blew by! I helped my Mom make a strawberry cake on Friday morning for Easter weekend and later in the afternoon I finished my 4-D Game of Thrones puzzle - now I am just trying to figure out what in the world I'm going to do with it! It's pretty large and I'm so proud of it but where does one put a giant 4-D puzzle?!?
The weather on Friday was sort of nuts - the wind was all over the place, whipping things around and it actually snowed on and off all day long! Gross! I mean...don't get me wrong, I love the snow! I just don't love the snow when it's almost mid-April and all I want is sunshine and all things Spring!
I finally discovered the AR function on my phone and had to put a tiger and lion into the middle of the living room - of course, right beside Watson! It is a pretty interesting little feature and I probably had way too much fun for a grown adult - but these are "unprecedented times" - so we have to find the joy where we can.
Saturday was an absolutely beautiful day - the sun was out, there was a gentle breeze and it was about 60 degrees. We had the chance to head over to Nokesville, Virginia and pick tulips at Burnside Farms. The farm sold a set amount of tickets for each hour so as to be within state and local laws for these crazy times and it was such a joy to be able to be outside somewhere besides my backyard for even just an hour. *sigh*
The tulips are the most gorgeous thing - they just spread out in rows as far as the eye can see. I imagine it's just a glimpse of what tulip fields in Holland must look like - and it makes me want to move Holland up on my list of places to visit...
Did I take a million pictures? Yes - yes I did. I mean, who knows when I will be outside again in a place that isn't my backyard? Ha-ha!
The rest of Saturday was really nice - we took a long way home through the countryside and there were Redbud trees in bloom all along the roadsides; little burst of bright pink peeking through all the green that is starting to overflow down the mountainsides! I spent the afternoon making turkey chili, watching Killing Eve and spending some time outside soaking up the good weather.
Easter dawned overcast and it seemed unlikely that the sun was going to come out at all - I'd been trying to convince my parents to actually dress nice to pick up our Easter brunch and take some pictures. I mean - I haven't gotten myself put together for anything in a while! Thankfully after coffee and church service, the sun started to peek through the clouds and by 12:30 the sun was out in full force!
My younger sister couldn't be with us for Easter - because of the COVID - our Easter looked really different than it was planned anyway, but since she was in Nevada, she took her picture and combined it with ours to make a nice family picture set! So sweet!
The Easter bunny was very good to me - I'm going to have to ration all the chocolate that I got since every single piece is multiple Weight Watchers points and I have come to far to throw it away on chocolate eggs, ha-ha! I did 100% tear into my Reese's Chocolate Rabbit on Sunday and it was DIVINE.
Let me leave you with the Easter chic(k) look that no one imagined we'd need this year - my makeshift face mask! I actually ordered my whole family masks that are currently being made but until they arrive, this one made from a handkerchief will just have to do.
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend and the week ahead is easy and breezy! It's definitely breezy here with the weather from the severe storms system moving through the area today! Here's to more Spring-like weather in the coming days!
